Gel Polish vs. Shellac: What's the Difference?
Customers ask about this a lot. Shellac is a brand name, gel is the category. When people say shellac gel or hybrid gel, they're usually describing the same type of service: color cured under UV light for a hard, glossy finish. At MT Nail Studio, we use professional-grade gel color that performs exactly the way a shellac manicure should, lasting two to three weeks without chipping.
The finish you get from a UV gel service looks very different from a regular manicure. The color is richer, the surface is harder, and there's no smudging on the way out the door because the cure sets everything solid before you leave the chair.
Gel Nails Across Every Finish and Color
Whether you want a single gel color in a neutral tone or something bold, we carry a wide range of shades. Gel powder options and add gel polish upgrades are available at both service tiers, so you can keep it simple or build something more custom. Our team can walk you through the color wall before we start so nothing is a surprise.
Gel nails don't have to mean a thick, artificial look. Done right, manicure gel sits close to the natural nail and just makes your color last. That's the goal every time.
How Long Do Gel Manicures Actually Last?
Most clients get two to three weeks from a single gel polish manicure before they're ready for a change. How long yours lasts depends on how fast your nails grow and how hard you use your hands day to day. If you work with your hands, three weeks might look more like two, but you'll still get noticeably more wear than standard polish.
When you're ready to remove or refresh, come back in. We soak and remove gel services properly so your natural nails stay healthy underneath.
